The grape, also known as Mataró in Catalonia, has its origins in Spain and has become synonymous with powerful and flavourful wines often described as possessing a distinct and characteristic flavour profile. Its unique characteristics include a robust structure, full flavours of dark berries such as blackberries, dark cherries, and plums, as well as subtle notes of pepper and chocolate.
